Conference Announcement: 17th Transactional Commercial Law Teachers Meeting, October 8-9, 2026
Following the great success of the prior conferences in, among other locations, Tubingen, Manchester, Oxford, Heidelberg, Kyushu, Madrid, Perth, Santiago, Rome, and Greensboro, it is my great pleasure to invite you to the 17th Transnational Commercial Law Teachers Meeting that will be held on 8-9 October 2026 at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
As with the prior meetings we invite anyone interested in transnational commercial law to participate. Information about the conference and past conferences can be found at the conference website.
For those who would like to present their work, we welcome papers on any topic that may be of interest to teachers, scholars, and practitioners of transnational commercial law, broadly understood. We particularly welcome papers that will address the theme of this year’s conference:
“Transnational Commercial Law in Times of Change: The Challenges of Technology and Fragmentation and Opportunities for Reform”
As is the tradition of the meeting, students are particularly welcome to participate and to present papers, such as, e.g., projects for or summaries of their Master or PhD theses.
Please send your paper abstracts of between 200-400 words to jlinarelli@pitt.edu by 30 June 2026 for consideration. Notification of accepted proposals will be made by 15 July 2026.
We are continuing the tradition of publishing some of the papers in the Uniform Law Review. The deadline for submitting to the Uniform Law Review via ScholarOne Manuscripts is 7 January, 2027. The usual length for the Uniform Law Review is between 15 and 20 pages, though longer papers have been published depending on the subject. Presenters will also have the opportunity to publish papers in the Journal of Law and Commerce, Pitt Law’s flagship publication on commercial law. If there is sufficient interest, we may explore the possibility of publishing papers in an edited volume in the Hart Studies in Commercial and Financial Law.
Pittsburgh is one of America’s most distinctive and charming cities. It is a place of dramatic geography, exceptional cultural institutions, and a lively academic community. Set at the confluence of three rivers, the city is beautiful with autumn color in October. The city offers outstanding dining and world-class museums such as the Carnegie and Warhol and Frick Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh International Airport offers nonstop transatlantic service to London, Frankfurt, Paris, Dublin, and Reykjavik and is a short connection from many North American cities. Hotel costs run well below other larger cities. Several excellent hotels are adjacent to the Pitt campus, within a few blockswalk on our campus to the law school. We will be providing more travel and accommodation information soon.
There will be a conference dinner on the evening of 8 October 2027. To plan for the conference, we would appreciate it if you could inform soon whether you may be attending.
I look forward to welcoming you to Pitt!
Warmest wishes,
John Linarelli
