New Law School at Wilmington University Seeks New Faculty Members

Multiple positions: Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Full Professor of Law – Wilmington University Farnan School of Law.

Summary: The Wilmington University Farnan School of Law invites applications for multiple full-time faculty positions to begin in July 2027. These positions are tenure-track or tenured positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor of Law.

Founded in 2022, our law school’s mission is to provide legal education that is affordable, accessible, and student-centered. Since receiving provisional ABA accreditation, our law school has experienced significant enrollment growth. We are expanding our full-time faculty to support that growth. We seek colleagues who are excited by our mission and the opportunity to help build our young law school. Faculty members are expected to provide outstanding classroom instruction; to mentor students; to participate in service to the law school, the University, and the broader community; and to maintain an active program of scholarship.

Consistent with our mission, full-time faculty typically teach five courses each academic year. Formative assessments are used to support student growth. We value innovative, engaging, and inclusive teaching, and we seek candidates who view teaching and mentoring as central components of an academic career.

We are especially interested in candidates who are prepared to teach more than one of the required doctrinal courses in our J.D. curriculum and/or legal writing. Information about our J.D. curriculum is available on our website.

We welcome applications from candidates with a variety of professional and academic backgrounds whose experience will contribute to our educational mission. Applicants must have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching. Strong candidates have prior teaching experience, significant legal practice experience, or both.

Hours of Employment: Classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday between 9:00am and 9:35pm. Full-time faculty typically teach in both the day and evening programs and must be available to teach in person, although some evening courses are held online. Friday meetings are usually held online between 9:00am and 5:00pm, but there are occasional in-person Friday events.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.

We seek colleagues who are excited by our mission and the opportunity to help build our young law school. A Professor of Legal Practice is expected to provide outstanding classroom instruction; to mentor students; and to participate in service to the law school, the University, and the broader community. Scholarship is not expected for this position.
