Charles Fried, 1935-2024
Charles Fried, whose Contract as Promise has served, since its publication in 1981, as a starting point for most discussions of contracts law theory, died this week at the age of 88. You can read his obituary in The Harvard Crimson here. It is a testament to his rich life that the Crimson does not reference Contracts as Promise.
I did not know Professor Fried, so I will leave it to others to share their appreciations of his work. As I come across them, I will share links.
