800pxbaby_elephants3After a contractor abandoned a project in Malawi to erect a 20-kilometer fence near Kasunga National Park, elephants wreaked havoc on crops in the surrounding area.  Apparently, the contractor left the job at Christmas time with only 13 kilometers of fence built, and that fence was not electrified.  The contractor never returned to complete the job.  The rain season came and the elephants trampled over the existing portion of the fence, destroying crops in communities near the protected area.
